Due to the experimental nature, the construction will cost 30% more than the construction of a mosque in the usual way.

Dubai authorities have announced plans to build the world's first mosque in the city, entirely printed on a 3D printer. This was reported on Friday by the Emirati newspaper The National.

"The use of 3D printing technology will reduce the consumption of building materials. In addition, this method does not harm nature and reflects the vision of our wise leadership," the publication quotes the opinion of Hamad al-Shaybani, Director General of the Department of Islam and Charity of the Emirate. The engineers working on the project admitted that due to the experimental nature, the construction will cost 30% more than the construction of the mosque in the usual way.

The chosen technology provides for the laying of layers of rapidly solidifying building material in accordance with computer markup. The construction of the mosque with an area of 2 thousand square meters is planned to begin in October 2023. It will take four months for 3D printing, and another year to equip the building with everything necessary for worshippers.

The project is being implemented as part of a strategy that provides for the development of 3D printing technology and the transformation of the emirate's capital into a world leader in this field by 2030.
