Thousands of Catholics to attend Pope's Mass in UAE

There will be over a thousand. About 135,000 Catholics are expected to attend the meeting with the pontiff on February 5.

churches are allocated to parishes in the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Yemen, a little less is given to countries in the northern part of the Arabian Peninsula - Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar.

Note that this is the first ever visit of Pope Francis to the United Arab Emirates. It will run from February 3rd to 5th. The Pope will visit the Arabian Peninsula for the first time. Prior to that, he visited a number of Muslim countries, including Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Let's add that more than a million Christians live in the UAE, many of them are Catholics. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has already called the upcoming visit of Pope Francis to the United Arab Emirates historic.
