A train with autonomous rails can travel on normal roads like a bus. At the same time, it can accommodate from 300 to 500 people and can reach speeds of up to 70 km/h, according to Red Net.

Zhuzhou city residents were able to test the world's first trackless electric train. According to the first passengers, "it's like going to the" metro along the "road". The first demonstration line of the trackless electric train opened on October 23. It will be one of the main exhibits of the 13th China International Railway Exhibition on October 24-27.

Autonomous Rail High Speed Train (ART) — something between a train and a bus. It has rubber tires so the ART can drive on any city road. At the same time, the train is equipped with sensors that determine the features of the route and adjust the route. Its construction cost the research institute of the railway company CRRC $ 2.2 million.

The 30-meter train consists of three cars and is designed for 300-500 passengers. Batteries have time to charge in 10 minutes, and at full load it drives 25 kilometers before the next recharging. At the same time, the  ART theoretically has the ability to charge at each stop: it takes only 30 seconds, and the charge is enough for 3-5 km. With a 100% charge, the electric train can travel 40 km at a maximum speed of 70 km/h.

Officially, the 6.5km line will be put into operation in Hunan province in the first half of 2018  ;of the year. Citizens will be able to use it free of charge, and will use their own ID instead of a travel card.

A in Beijing will launch the first medium-speed magnetic-cushion train line at the end of this year. Eight elevated stations have already been built, between which the train will accelerate to the permitted 100 km/h. The line is designed to carry an average of 160,000 passengers per day.
