The Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation visited a military parade in Myanmar.


Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Alexander Fomin and members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation became guests of the parade in honor of the 76th anniversary of the formation of the Myanmar Armed Forces, which was held in the capital of the country, Naypyidaw. This was reported to journalists on Saturday at the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The visit of the Russian delegation is a response to the visit of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Myanmar Min Aung Hlein in 2020 to the anniversary Victory Parade in Moscow.

“Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Colonel-General Alexander Fomin and members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of Russia took part in the parade, which took place on the main military square of the city. The military attaches of the ASEAN countries and dialogue partners also took part in the solemn events,” the military department said.

According to the ministry, about 8,000 servicemen marched along the parade ground. In the dynamic part of the parade, almost 200 units of military equipment and 45 units of helicopters and aircraft were presented, including Russian-made: T-72 tanks, armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicles, MiG-29, Yak-130 aircraft, Mi-24, Mi -35, Mi-17 and others. “At the same time, most of the shown equipment and weapons, including artillery and missile strikes, are produced at the enterprises of the local defense industry,” the military department noted.

In addition, on Friday, Fomin held talks with the chairman of the State Administrative Council , Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the RepublicMin Aung Hlein. The parties agreed to expand military and military-technical cooperation in the spirit of strategic partnership.

The day of the formation of the armed forces of Myanmar is considered the date of the liberation of the republic from Japanese militarism.
