The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia will oblige all migrants to receive a single electronic document valid for 10 years for a long stay in the country, the press center of the ministry told TASS.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, graphic and textual information about its owner will be stored in the electronic document in a protected form. “At the same time, the list of information about a foreign citizen contained on an electronic medium, as well as the procedures for issuing and issuing a single document, will be specified during the preparation of a draft federal law and relevant by-laws,” the Interior Ministry added. The ministry did not specify the timing of the introduction of this document, explaining that the relevant regulations are being developed.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin in October 2018 approved the Concept of the State Migration Policy of the Russian Federation for 2019 to improve migration legislation -2025 years. The government later approved the action plan for its implementation until 2022 by a relevant decree. Within the framework of this plan, among other things, a document is being developed that provides for the reform of migration regimes.

It is planned to introduce a unified migration regime for long-term stay of foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation. It will become uniform for all foreigners entering the country, not requiring a visa, for a period of more than 90 days a year for any legitimate purpose, including work and education.
