The largest university in Kamchatka will increase the number of budget places for tourism

The number of budget places in the tourist direction in KamSU will be increased by more than 2 times.


On Monday, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, during a meeting with students of the Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University (KamGU) in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, announced the need to increase the number of budget places at the university in the tourist direction by more than 2 times.

“I know that you now have about 13 state-funded places in this direction, which, of course, is not enough. We need to multiply this [number], but for this we need to promote and ensure the link between the university and business,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

In an interview with students, he also noted that professions in There is a lot in the tourism sector, this is a promising direction. According to Dmitry Chernyshenko, the tourism sector in Kamchatka will noticeably develop in the near future.

“The main obstacle to the development of tourism in Kamchatka is the logistics component. Here, all excursions are conducted mainly by helicopters, it is very expensive. Now the governor is developing a transport connectivity system based on small aircraft — small airplanes that can land on any site, even practically unprepared, non-paved ones, and land simply on flat surfaces. This will significantly reduce the cost of moving. The organization of such a business is also part of the tourism industry,” Dmitry Chernyshenko told the students.

KamGU has been leading its history since 1958. Classes began at three faculties: history and philology, physics and mathematics, and the faculty of primary school. Currently, the university has 150 full-time teachers and 64 part-time teachers, of which more than 50% have academic degrees and titles. The number of students continues to grow. In total, 34 professional educational programs are being implemented, new specialties are being opened. The last of them is socio-cultural service and tourism.
