The XVII Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan was held from September 28 to 30, the theme of the event was "Cooperation in the field of ecology and green growth." 

The forum was held online due to the epidemiological situation.

Within the framework of the event, three thematic panel sessions were organized, during which representatives of Russia and Kazakhstan exchanged views on issues of transboundary water bodies, climate change, as well as animal and plant life. peace. The session dedicated to flora and fauna was attended by the director of the Katunsky Reserve Alexander Zateev, who represented the Russian side of the Altai transboundary biosphere reserve. In particular, Alexander Viktorovich announced the problems and prospects of joint work of two specially protected natural areas - the Katunsky Reserve (Russian Federation) and the Katon-Karagai National Park (Republic of Kazakhstan).

In addition, within the framework of his speech, Alexander Zateev highlighted the issue of creating an international tourist zone in the vicinity of Belukha Mountain. In his opinion, Belukha should be considered as an international zone for the development of ecological tourism, taking into account the cultural characteristics and sacredness of this territory.
