The Kemerovo region received the first batch of Sputnik-M coronavirus vaccine for teenagers. Vaccination of minors will be on a voluntary basis, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Kuzbass for social development Aleksey Tsigelnik said at a meeting on Monday.

"Sputnik-M", which can be given to adolescents from the age of 12. I emphasize: there is no mandatory vaccination of adolescents, vaccinations will be given only on a voluntary basis," said Aleksey Tsigelnik.

The press service of the Ministry of Health of Kuzbass TASS explained that now the vaccine for adolescents is being distributed to medical institutions in the region, in total Kuzbass received 1,920 doses. It is planned to start vaccination in the near future.

According to the regional operational headquarters, as of January 24, more than 91.7 thousand cases of infection have been detected in the region since the beginning of the pandemic, 83.9 thousand people have recovered, 1,847 patients have died. Over the past week, almost 2.2 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kuzbass, which is almost 40% more than a week earlier, when about 1.6 thousand cases were recorded.
