The authorities of Kazakhstan are determined with the construction site of the nuclear power plant



The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan is working to study a possible location for the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP). This was announced on Wednesday by the First Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Murat Zhurebekov at a briefing.
“In his September message, the head of state instructed the government to work out this issue within a year. Today we are actively working on it. Our work today includes determining locations on the territory of the country, taking into account the criteria that are necessary for the implementation of such projects,” said Zhurebekov, answering a question about the development of safe nuclear energy in the republic and the possible construction of a nuclear power plant.
According to him, the ministry is also consulting with international experts on the technology and capacity of such a plant. “We are looking at our updated balance of electricity consumption and energy production in order to determine whether we will have a deficit, if so, in what year and in what volume,” the vice minister explained.
He noted that in November, the ministry plans to discuss these issues with international experts. “I think that within the timeframe indicated by the head of state in the message, we will already complete this work and present a vision for the further implementation of this issue,” said Zhurebekov.

On September 30, speaking at the Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, Putinsaid that the Russian Federation can build a nuclear power plant in the republic and provide other support to the Kazakh side in this area.
