350 thousand candles were lit in the largest Buddhist temple in Thailand in honor of Asalha Puja, one of the most important holidays in the country. Burning candles laid out in the shape of a Buddha.

“Today is Asalha Puja Day, an important day for Buddhists around the world. This is the day when the Buddha gave his first Sermon and also initiated the worship of the Triple Jewel, namely: the Buddha, his teachings and his community, - said  Sanwong Wutivangso, Director of Communications at Wat Phra Dhammakaya Temple. “Today, the Dhammakaya Temple is lighting candles in the shape of the Buddha, his teachings, and his community, and we have invited monks and worshipers to join online prayers.”

“I hope that the candles lit in the form of the Three Jewels of Buddhism will help people find inner peace and this will support them during the difficult period of the coronavirus pandemic,” expressed hope Sanwong Wutiwangso.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, various figures have been laid out with burning candles in this temple more than once. For example, on Earth Day, April 22, the Dhammakaya Temple broke the Guinness World Record for the largest number of candles lit in the shape of the Earth.
