The authorities of the kingdom expect from April to May to reach a plateau in the number of infected people, and from the end of May to the end of June to begin the stage of reducing the number of infected people in the country.

From Friday, the Thai authorities canceled the mandatory PCR test, the result of which had to be presented to board the plane before leaving for the kingdom. At the same time, the pre-paid PCR test upon arrival and the antigen test on the fifth day of stay in the country are preserved, according to the decree published in the Royal Newspaper.

As for travelers who are not vaccinated against coronavirus or who wish to undergo quarantine, now they only need to be in isolation for five days instead of 10. The reduction of the period of stay to five days also affected those arriving through the “sandbox”, one of the main conditions of which is the mandatory stay within the designated areas.

“Cancellation of [one] PCR -test during the low season is absolutely logical, - said in an interview with a correspondent. TASS general representative of the tour operator Tez Tour in Southeast Asia Andrey Snetkov. “Passenger traffic is less compared to the high season, and in case of any distortions, it is easier to adjust the rules.” “The same with the planned cancellation of the Thailand Pass from July. This will definitely become a stimulating factor when choosing a destination for tourist trips in favor of Thailand both in the upcoming winter and summer seasons,” he is sure.

The authorities of the kingdom expect from April to May to reach a plateau in the number and from the end of May to the end of June, begin the stage of reducing the number of infected people in the country. From July 1, the government expects to reclassify the coronavirus from a pandemic to an endemic. Surin province planned to become the first territory in Thailand where an endemia would be declared by April 1, but now they want to implement the initiative after the celebration of Songkran (New Year according to the ancient Indian astrological calendar - TASS note).

July, allow vaccinated travelers to enter Thailand without taking any coronavirus tests, and unvaccinated travelers only to take an antigen test. Then the program Test & Go, which allows fully vaccinated people not to go through quarantine, is planned to be canceled. The initiatives will be implemented if the infection is detected in less than 1% of tourists, in the period from March 1 to March 30, this figure was 0.59% with 262.3 thousand travelers arriving.

In Thailand, whose population is 69.6 million people, the first case of coronavirus infection was detected on January 13, 2020. On Friday, the Ministry of Health informed about a record 28.3 thousand infected and 92 deaths from covid per day. At the moment, the total number of infected people has exceeded 3.6 million, more than 3.3 million people have recovered, 25.2 thousand patients have died. 50.3 million people have been fully vaccinated in the country.
