Technical tests have begun on the Karshi-Kitab railway line

This was announced by the national carrier of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the operator of the reconstruction JSC "Uzbekiston temir yullari".

The company informed that more than 120 kilometers of tracks were modernized and electrified. About 300 people and about 100 units of construction and repair equipment were employed in the work. In the process of reconstruction, specialists installed reinforced concrete supports, consoles and contact lines. In addition, the company built two railway bridges, modernized several stations and erected about 20 artificial structures for various purposes. The project cost the operator about 460 billion Uzbek soums ($58.9 million). 

Now it is necessary to check the operability of all systems on the line. According to the press service of the carrier, an electric locomotive first drove along the reconstructed track. Then a test flight was made by the Afrosiyob high-speed train. All tests should be completed as soon as possible. According to the representatives of the company, the opening of the Karshi-Kitab line will be a good gift for passengers on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the independence of the Republic, which is celebrated on September 1. 

In honor of the holiday, the Uzbekistan Temir Yollari company introduced special discounts for tickets. From August 31 to September 4, they can be purchased for half the face value.
