Sri Lankan government announces curfew



The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, announced a 60-hour ban on citizens leaving the streets of settlements, which in fact means the introduction of martial law and curfew.
The order is valid during the weekend, that is, from Friday evening to Monday morning. In this way, the authorities hope to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The President also urged Sri Lankans to reduce their time outside during the working week and carry out their professional activities from home.

Currently in Sri Lanka 65 infected. 8,300 Sri Lankans who returned from abroad are sitting at home in self-quarantine. Another 2,400 people are isolated and monitored in medical centers. More than 38 thousand foreign citizens remain in the country. Air traffic to the island for civilians has effectively been cut off.
