Sputnik V became the third vaccine to be used in India. So far, only two drugs have been used in immunization there: Covishield (Covishild), developed by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca (AstraZeneca) and the University of Oxford, as well as Covaxin (Covaxin) from the Indian company Bharat Biotech (Bharat Biotek ).

Indian pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories applied in February for a limited use permit for Sputnik V in India. She was approved in April. This company is ready to distribute the Russian vaccine. RDIF also agreed to manufacture the drug with several companies in India itself.

In India, a record number of people infected with coronavirus per day was detected the day before - more than 400 thousand. The total number of people infected during the entire pandemic in the country exceeds 19 million.

“Like in Siberia”

A batch of the Russian vaccine has now been delivered to the Dr. Reddy's Laboratories in Hyderabad. “The temperature in the warehouse reaches minus 25 degrees Celsius. The temperature is like you have in Siberia,” explains company spokesman Dr. Ravi Mathur. Outside in Hyderabad, the temperature is about plus 40 degrees.

This warehouse will store the vaccine until it starts to be delivered to medical facilities and vaccination points from here - according to a pre-created special cold chain designed for delivery such drugs. Unloading from refrigerated trucks and loading for delivery to other warehouses is carried out through a special lock, closed on all sides.

Employees working inside the cold warehouse are dressed in special warm suits, warm shoes and ski-like hats. The movers pulling white and blue boxes of vaccines from refrigerators do not wear special suits and are clearly freezing in the airlock. Unloading is a slow process, it took several hours, the vaccine is a drug that requires special treatment, one of the leaders of the process points out.

It is interesting that some representatives of the company know a little Russian. “We are actively cooperating with Russia. And I often visited St. Petersburg and other cities,” said one of them. “It is good that the Russian vaccine has finally been delivered. This is important for us now, you know, now the situation with the coronavirus is not easy,” he said. centers, the city does not look empty - there are a lot of cars and passers-by on the streets.

The situation with the incidence in the state of Telangana, whose capital is Hyderabad, is not as difficult as in other regions of the country. However, on the banks of the Musi River, on which the city is located, funeral pyres are also burning with those who died due to infection. And the staff of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories understands that the situation here can change for the worse at any time.
