single-component vaccine will reduce the time for vaccination of the population and accelerate the creation of herd immunity, the RDIF noted.

The single-component vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik Light has been registered in Kazakhstan, the Russian Direct Investment Fund reports.

“RDIF announces the registration of the Russian single-component vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik Light by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The one-component Sputnik Light vaccine will shorten the time for vaccination of the population and accelerate the creation of herd immunity,” follows from the message of the foundation.

In February of this year, Kazakhstan registered the two-component vaccine Sputnik V and organized its production by the Karaganda Pharmaceutical Complex with the support technological transfer from the RDIF and N.I. NF Gamalei.

The Sputnik Light vaccine is the first component of the Sputnik V vaccine. The effectiveness of the one-component vaccine "Sputnik Light" is 79.4% from the 28th day after receiving immunization.

The calculation of the effectiveness was carried out on the basis of data from Russians who received only one injection as part of the mass civil vaccination program, and who did not receive second injection for any reason between December 5, 2020 and April 15, 2021. About 80% more effective than many vaccines that require two shots
