Residents of the Iraqi capital share pictures on social networks.

Neighboring Iran experienced heavy snowfall in January. In particular, the streets of Tehran were covered.  Dozens of flights were delayed, traffic was interrupted and schools were closed.

At the beginning of the year, India, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan were at the mercy of the snow elements. The height of the cover in some places reached 120 centimeters.

In the state of Ras al-Khaimah, where hot, dry weather usually lasts all year round, almost a year's worth of precipitation fell, and the temperature dropped sharply.
