Nikolay Samoilov, Member of the Editorial Board of the journal "Russian Sinology": "Today is a truly historic event.
Indeed, for many, many years we have been waiting for the appearance of a specialized Sinological journal. And finally, thanks to the efforts of our Moscow colleagues and sinologists from all over Russia, this first issue appeared."

On the pages of the magazine you can find the most relevant research about ancient and modern China. And also — journalistic notes, statements of public figures, translations of foreign articles and fiction, news, reviews and much more. The publication continues the traditions of the journal "Soviet Sinology", which was published in the 50s of the 20th century. This continuity is emphasized by the vintage design of the cover of the first issue.

Kirill Babaev, Chairman of the Editorial Board of the journal "Russian Sinology", Head of the ICSA RAS: "Russian Sinology is at a fairly high level, but nevertheless, for many decades in Russia there has not been such an academic scientific journal devoted exclusively to China.
Of course, this is a big omission, because such journals exist in all major scientific powers. We decided to eliminate this gap."

The new edition is intended not only for scientists, but also for all lovers of Chinese civilization, culture, history and technology. The approach to the quality of publications is uncompromising. From the very beginning, the editorial board set the highest bar that potential authors should meet.

Igor Denisov, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Russian Sinology": "We are interested in the quality of the selection of material that meets the highest standards of academic science.
But at the same time, we want to be interesting to the general public as well."

The new edition is being published under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Sciences in partnership with key scientific and educational centers for the study of China. According to the editorial board, the journal should unite Russian and foreign researchers from different organizations, create a centralized platform for scientific discussions and raise their level. In order to cover as wide a geography as possible, the publication accepts manuscripts in Russian, English and Chinese. The editorial board of the journal, along with scientists from different regions of Russia, includes representatives of China, the USA and Japan.

Alexander Lukin, Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Russian Sinology": "We will publish authors from all cities of Russia, from all centers where they are only available.
We have many interesting centers in Vladivostok, in Blagoveshchensk, there are individual sinologists and interesting schools in Kazan, in many other cities. And from the CIS countries, generally foreign authors."

Integration into the online space is of great importance for the creators of the journal, which will help scientists tell Russians about China, going beyond the traditional paper edition. In particular, the editorial board will announce interesting news and publications on social networks.

Igor Denisov, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Russian Sinology": "We want to be present, again, on the Internet.
You can freely download all the articles on our website, this also makes science accessible. Unlike some magazines, we have chosen the platinum open access format. Let me explain what it is. This means that open access to articles is free for both the author and the reader. That is, there is no subscription here, we want to be open to everyone."

The participants of the press conference discussed not only the features of the new magazine, but also Russian-Chinese relations in the context of the interests of the two countries and the complex international agenda.

Igor Denisov, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Russian Sinology": "The West's synchronous pressure on China and Russia contributes to their further rapprochement.
But I repeat that it is based on the choice that we made a long time ago."

Li Yongquan, Director of the Institute of Social Development of Eurasia of the Center for Development Studies of the State Council of the People's Republic of China: "We are going through an important historical period of profound restructuring of the world order, profound changes in international relations.
The impact of the current changes in the structure of the world is no less, I would say, than the upheavals in eastern Europe in the 80s and in the Soviet Union. And no less than the impact of the collapse of the Union on the world."

The creation of the new magazine was an important step in the development of cooperation with China. The Celestial Empire has been Russia's most important foreign policy, trade and economic partner for many years. Our countries support each other in the international arena, share common values and global priorities.

Kirill Babaev, Chairman of the Editorial Board of the journal "Russian Sinology", Head of the ICSA RAS: "Firstly, the most important thing, of course, is that today the interaction between Russia and China at all levels is literally growing by leaps and bounds.
There is an extremely large-scale turn to the east, which we have been talking about for many years, but which, in fact, started only last year. And this, of course, also affects scientific cooperation, and cooperation between various educational institutions and research centers. It is very important for us today to increase the attention of the Russian public to China, Chinese civilization, the study of what is happening in the country now, what Sino-Russian relations are. That is why, from my point of view, the magazine is very important."

The journal "Russian Sinology" will be published four times a year and distributed free of charge, including in the largest Russian libraries. As a rule, the rooms will cover the widest range of topics and disciplines. But the editorial board also allows the preparation of thematic special issues at the request of the authors.
