Samsung will use recycled plastic to produce smartphones

Samsung plans to use recycled plastic in all its smartphones by 2050.
The South Korean company Samsung plans to use recycled plastic in the production of all its smartphones by 2050. This was reported on Monday by the Yonhap news agency.
The company also intends to abandon the use of plastic materials for packaging its products by 2025.
"Someone will wonder what effect our campaign will have on the environment, but still these are quite significant volumes [of plastic], given our extensive product line. I think it will find a small but important response from every buyer," Park Song Sung, vice president of the company, said at a briefing.
According to the agency, Samsung already uses elements from recycled plastic in the production of its flagship Galaxy phones (Galaxy). At the same time, the number of such parts in the new models presented in February is twice as large as in smartphones released a year earlier.
As of the end of 2022, the company has processed more than 15 tons of fishing nets thrown into the sea, Samsung says. The South Korean manufacturer is also working with partners to increase the volume of processing of rare materials such as gold and cobalt. At the same time, Park Song-sun assured that the company will try to minimize the increase in prices for its products, which may arise due to the more active use of recycled materials.
