Russian Emergencies Ministry plane arrives in Syria

The IL-76 aircraft of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia with rescuers, dog handlers and special equipment arrived on Tuesday in Syria, affected by the earthquake that occurred in Turkey.

According to a TASS correspondent, there are 50 people on board the plane, as well as the equipment necessary to search and rescue people from the rubble.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 occurred on Monday night in the province of Kahramanmaras in southeastern Turkey. The tremors, followed by almost 150 aftershocks, were felt in 10 provinces of the country, as well as in neighboring states, including Syria. The death toll in Turkey, according to the latest data from local authorities, rose to 3,381, more than 20,000 people were injured.

At the same time, according to the Syrian Ministry of Health, the death toll in Syria has increased to 769, at least 1,448 more were injured in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Tartus, Hama and Idlib, located in the west and northwest of the country.
