Russia to supply 10 million doses of Sputnik Light vaccine to Turkey

The Russian Direct Investment Fund has chosen Turk Ilac ve Serum Sanayi as an authorized partner for the supply and distribution of the Sputnik Light vaccine in Turkey.


The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and the Turkish pharmaceutical company Turk Ilac ve Serum Sanayi have signed a contract to supply 10 million doses of the Russian Sputnik Light vaccine to Turkey. This was reported on Thursday correspondent. TASS in a Turkish company.

“The Russian Direct Investment Fund has chosen Turk Ilac ve Serum Sanayi as an authorized partner for the supply and distribution of the Sputnik Light vaccine in Turkey. The concluded contract provides for the first stage of the supply and sale of 10 million doses of the vaccine,” the source said.

At present, the Sputnik Light vaccine is not registered for use in Turkey. TASS does not yet have an official comment from the Ministry of Health of Turkey on this topic.

On April 28, 2021, the Minister of Health of Turkey Fahrettin Koca announced that the republic had signed a contract for the supply of the Sputnik V vaccine. On June 14 of the same year, the first batch of Sputnik V arrived in the republic.

On January 14 last year, Turkey began mass vaccination of the population using the Chinese drug CoronaVac manufactured by Sinovac Biotech, the vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech, as well as a drug of its own produced by Turkovac.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Health, more than 144 million people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus in the country so far, and 57 million people have received the first component of the vaccine.
