Russia provided humanitarian aid to Kyrgyzstan

Russia provided Kyrgyzstan with humanitarian aid in the form of more than 1,000 tons of flour.

The ceremony of handing over a batch of humanitarian aid to Kyrgyzstan from the Russian Federation took place on Monday in Bishkek. This was reported to TASS at the Russian embassy in the republic.

“On April 5, the ceremony of handing over Russian food aid — 474 tons of wheat flour — took place in the capital of the republic,” a representative of the diplomatic mission said. According to him, on April 2, in the regional center of Osh, Russia also provided the Kyrgyz side with 610 tons of flour free of charge.

A shipment of humanitarian aid worth $9 million was delivered from the Russian Federation as part of its earmarked contribution to the UN World Food Program for 2020 –2021.

The humanitarian cargo received from Russia will be distributed among 5.5 thousand poor Kyrgyz families, as well as among 78 thousand schoolchildren.

According to the embassy, the Russian Federation continues to finance and “other international projects aimed at strengthening food security” of Kyrgyzstan.

In total, thanks to Russia's financial and technical support, about 400,000 students in 700 schools in Kyrgyzstan are provided with free hot meals.
