Russia opens flights with three more countries

Russia will resume flights with Venezuela, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan from 1 April.


Russia will resume regular passenger flights with Venezuela, Syria, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka from  April 1 , the Federal Operational Headquarters for Combating the Coronavirus told reporters on Thursday.


“A decision was made to renew on a reciprocal basis from 1 April 2021, regular international flights with Venezuela (Moscow -Caracas, twice in    week), Syria (Moscow - Damascus, once a week), Tajikistan (Moscow - Dushanbe, once a week), Uzbekistan (Moscow - Tashkent, once a week) and Sri Lanka ( Moscow & nbsp; - Colombo, once a week) ”, & nbsp; — said the headquarters.


Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatyana Golikova said in an interview with TASS that Russia, before the holidays on February 23 and March 8 this year, did not expand a list of countries with which air traffic has been resumed, as it took into account the experience of last year, when, after the holidays, Russians returned from European countries after being infected with the coronavirus.


In March 2020,   suspended all commercial passenger flights abroad. The phased restoration of international air traffic began last summer. Russia has resumed flights to a number of states: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Egypt, UAE, Turkey, Great Britain, Switzerland, Tanzania, Serbia, Japan, the Maldives and Cuba. Since the end of December, Russia has temporarily suspended air traffic with the UK until  16 April due to the spread of a new strain of the virus. Air traffic with Ethiopia and the Seychelles was also formally resumed, however, so far none of the airlines of the Russian Federation announced the start of flights to these two countries. From February 8 air communication with Singapore and Greece was resumed, from     -Armenia and Azerbaijan.
