Russian tourists in India are increasingly exploring routes in the south of the country.

Russian tourists are increasingly paying attention to the southern states of India — Kerala and Karnataka. This was told on Monday by the correspondent of TASS, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Chennai Oleg Avdeev on the eve of the opening of the "Indo-Russian Travel and Tourism Fair" (Indo-Russian Travel and Tourism Fair) in the capital of Kerala — Trivandrum.

"Recently, South India has become more and more attractive destination for our tourists. This is Kerala, already quite widely known to our tourists by Ayurvedic clinics and resorts, and — especially recently — the state of Karnataka. The northern part of Karnataka borders with the state of Goa, where many of our tourists traditionally rest," Avdeev said.

He noted that Russian citizens are looking for new directions for themselves. In addition , in Goa is experiencing an increase in vacation prices. "We record a certain flow of our tourists from Goa to Karnataka," the agency interlocutor pointed out.

The exhibition, which begins its work on Tuesday (the official opening ceremony will take place on November 30), is designed to introduce Russian travel companies to new destinations in India.

"The southern states of India also have beaches and the sea, and other states of the south — Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, where there is a developed beach infrastructure. Traditionally, India is a winter resort, most people come here in winter. We are now seeing an increase in the flow of tourists from Russia to the southern part of India. I am sure that this process will continue with renewed vigor," said the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Chennai.
