Russian and Soviet films, cartoons, documentaries about the culture and history of the Russian Federation will be included in the program of studying the Russian language in Syria. The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the international media project "Meeting with Russia", an agreement on this was signed in Damascus during a meeting of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria, TASS correspondent reports.

The agreement was signed by representatives of the media project "Date with Russia", ANO "Mentors of Russia", the Syrian ANO "Here is my identity" and the Syrian-Russian Cooperation Foundation. The project is supported by the Union of Veterans of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

"The agreement did not arise spontaneously. The preparation of these projects has been carried out for more than a year and now, after signing, we are starting to implement our large joint program," said the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Syria.Nikolai Sukhov.

Media materials will consist of modern and Soviet cartoons and films, documentaries and popular science films about the history and culture of Russia. They will be selected for three age groups — from 6, 12 and 16 years old, and transferred to schools where children learn Russian. Russian Russian is important to strengthen friendship, humanitarian cooperation, share the richness of Russian culture and the Russian language. These films will help Syrian youth to better master the Russian language, make Russia, with its unique cultural and natural diversity, closer and more understandable for them. Getting to know our films will be a stimulating tool for learning the Russian language," the head of the "Date with Russia" media project believes Alexander Ilyin.

All films will be accompanied by subtitles in Arabic, and the translation will be carried out into a more modern version of the language, which is closer and more understandable to young people, the authors of the project note.
