Russia has provided 500 sets of Russian tests for the diagnosis of smallpox of monkeys as humanitarian aid to Cambodia. This is stated in a statement issued on Friday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation following the meetings of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian FederationSergey Lavrov with the Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International CooperationPrak Sokhon.

"During the visit [to Phnom Penh], 500 sets of Russian tests for the diagnosis of monkey pox were handed over to the Cambodian side as humanitarian assistance," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

It was noted at Smolenskaya Square that the head of the Cambodian government discussed the state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, scientific, technical and humanitarian fields. "An in-depth exchange of views took place on key issues of the regional and global agenda. The need to strengthen multipolarity, build a genuine universal architecture of equal security, focus on cooperation for the sake of development, and not on confrontation and splitting the world along ideological lines was emphasized," the ministry added.

They also informed that the Foreign Ministers of the two countries considered the tasks of building up Russian-Cambodian ties in practical areas of mutual interest with an eye to preparing for the next meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation scheduled for the second half of this year. "The directions of further coordination of efforts within the framework of the UN and other international organizations and forums, primarily the Asean—centric ones, have been outlined," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

Following the talks, as noted on Smolenskaya Square, the ministers adopted a joint statement and signed a Plan of consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia for the period 2022-2024.
