Residents of Pakistan made about 3 million vaccinations with the Russian "Sputnik V"

Pakistan is interested in the production of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine at its enterprises.


Over 2.9 million people have been vaccinated with the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in Pakistan. This was announced by the National Command and Operations Center to combat the spread of COVID-19 (NCOC).

In the near future, another 1 million doses of this drug will be used to vaccinate the population against the virus. Pakistan now has 6 million doses of Sputnik V, Dawn reports NCOC on Wednesday.

Previously, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced Islamabad's interest in the production of this Russian vaccines in Pakistani factories. “Russia has done an excellent job helping the whole world fight the pandemic, the Sputnik vaccine is a step forward in this direction,” he said. “We strive to attract investment to Pakistan and, if possible, produce the Sputnik vaccine in our country.”

The importer of the Russian vaccine is Chughtai Lab, a private medical organization operating in the city of Lahore. It is supplied through the Pakistani firm Ali Gohar Pharmaceuticals Pvt and the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

Sputnik V is one of seven vaccines approved for emergency use in Pakistan. The country also allows the use of Chinese vaccines Sinovac, Sinopharm, CanSinoBio, a drug developed by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca and Oxford University, American vaccines Pfizer and Moderna.
