Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to develop a new master plan for the development of the capital of Kazakhstan.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took the initiative to develop a new master plan for the development of Astana. This was announced on Tuesday by the press service of the President of Kazakhstan following a meeting on the development of the capital.

"It is necessary to modernize the capital. First of all, it is necessary to update the city's development strategy until 2050. This document should define the main directions of the integrated development of the city. I instruct the akimat (administration — approx. TASS) Astana will hold public hearings and develop a new master plan of the capital," Tokayev said.

According to him, the government should adopt this plan by the end of this year. "We must develop Astana according to the principle of a creative, comfortable and clean city. At the same time, we strive for the advanced standards of Dubai, Singapore and European cities," the president explained.

He noted that the capital should switch to a new model of development, transform into an innovative city of the future. "New digital approaches to city management are being intensively introduced in the world, which we should also pay attention to. I specifically met with the leaders of the G42 company in United Arab Emirates. This company is a leader in the development of artificial intelligence. They are ready to present to us their achievements in this area within the framework of the Smart City project," Tokayev said. He instructed the Government and local authorities to start this work.
