The President of Kazakhstan instructed to allocate $1 million to help Turkey

Currently, the Turkish side is studying the issue of providing additional assistance to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake, the press service of the head of state reports.


President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to allocate $ 1 million to provide emergency assistance to Turkey affected by the devastating earthquake. This was announced on Wednesday by the press service of the head of state.

"The Head of State instructed the government to allocate $ 1 million to provide emergency assistance to the Republic of Turkey, which suffered as a result of a catastrophic earthquake. Also, the authorized bodies of Kazakhstan, together with the Turkish side, are studying the issue of providing additional assistance to eliminate the consequences of a natural disaster," the message reads.

Later, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan informed that the second group of rescuers was sent to Turkey on behalf of the president. "Another plane with rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan is flying to Turkey to expand its capabilities to assist in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. The second echelon consists of 60 personnel, including rescuers, doctors of the Disaster Medicine Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, cynological calculations. The rapid response forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are armed with about 150 types of emergency rescue tools and equipment and more than 160 types of medicines," the ministry noted.

The second group of employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan will join the search and rescue operations in the city of Gaziantep. Thus, the total number of Kazakhstani rescuers involved in Turkey will be 100 people.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 occurred on Monday in the Turkish province of Kahramanmarash. The tremors, followed by hundreds of aftershocks, were felt in 10 provinces of the country and neighboring states, including Syria. According to the latest data, more than 5,8 thousand people were killed in Turkey.
