One-component Sputnik Light vaccine approved in Palestine

The single-component Sputnik Light coronavirus vaccine has been approved for use in Palestine, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said in a statement.

“RDIF announces the registration of the Russian single-component Sputnik Light coronavirus vaccine by the Ministry of Health of the State of Palestine. In January of this year, a two-component Sputnik V vaccine was also registered in Palestine. The drug was approved for use under the accelerated procedure (emergency use authorization, EUA),” the report says.

The Sputnik Light vaccine is the first component (recombinant human adenovirus of the Sputnik V vaccine. "Sputnik light" is 79.4% from the 28th day after receiving immunization.

The calculation of the effectiveness was carried out on the basis of data from Russians who received only one injection as part of the mass civil vaccination program and did not receive a second injection according to for any reason between December 5, 2020 and April 15, 2021. The success rate of about 80% exceeds that of many vaccines that require two shots.

Sputnik V is approved for use in 66 countries with with a total population of more than 3.2 billion people.
