Vaccination against coronavirus in Georgia will begin on March 15.

Vaccination of the population against coronavirus in Georgia will begin on March 15. This was announced on Saturday by the head of the Ministry of Health Ekaterina Tikaradze at a briefing.

“The Center for Disease Control and Public Health has already selected 82 institutions where vaccination against coronavirus will begin on March 15,” — said Ekaterina Tikaradze, specifying that all doctors who will vaccinate people have already received special training.

Georgia on Saturday received the first 43.2 thousand doses of AstraZeneca's coronavirus vaccine. The government of the republic in December last year developed a national vaccination plan, according to which health workers will be the first to be vaccinated. Further, it is planned to vaccinate 20% of the adult population, which is 700 thousand people. At the same time, the authorities note that in order to develop herd immunity, it is necessary to vaccinate 60% of the population. In total, Georgia plans to buy up to 4 million doses of the vaccine.
