Ombudsmen of Russia and Bahrain will visit prisoners together

Human Rights Ombudsman in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova and Chairman of the National Institute for Human Rights of the Kingdom of Bahrain Ali Ahmed al-Derazi agreed on Sunday to jointly visit citizens in penitentiary institutions. The Russian Ombudsman announced this on her Instagram page.

"We agreed [with ad-Derazi] to carry out a prompt exchange of information on cases of violation of the rights and freedoms of our citizens, discussed joint monitoring of the observance of the rights of students and tourists, citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain studying in the Russian Federation. Moskalkova recalled that in August a bilateral memorandum of understanding was signed with ad-Derazi. "In a working environment, we discussed our further interaction in the field of protecting human rights and freedoms and holding joint events next year," the Ombudsman noted.

In this regard, Moskalkovainvited hell -Derazi to take part in the meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsmen Alliance (EAO) as an observer.

The Eurasian Ombudsmen Alliance was established on December 5, 2017, initially it included state human rights defenders from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Iran. Currently, the JAO also includes the Ombudsmen of Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Serbia and Tajikistan.
