New batch of Russian Sputnik V vaccine delivered to Armenia

Armenia has purchased another batch of the second dose of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine for 15,000 people.


Armenia received another batch of Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection Sputnik V. This was reported on Monday by the Public TV channel of the country, referring to a representative of the Ministry of Health.

“According to the agreement, Armenia purchased another batch of the second dose of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus for 15,000 people. The consignment is currently undergoing customs clearance,” the ministry said.

Earlier, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan told reporters that the stocks of the Russian vaccine in the country are almost exhausted, which is why there are difficulties with the second dose of the drug.

Recently, the situation with the spread of infection in Armenia has worsened, the daily increase in the number of infected people fluctuates around 600-650. A total of 241,611 infected people (about 10% of the population) were detected in the republic, 4,830 people died from complications caused by the infection.

In the spring, a vaccination campaign began in the country. To do this, use the drugs "Sputnik V", AstraZeneca and Sinopharm, and the government is also negotiating the purchase of the American vaccine "Pfizer". According to the latest data, about 275 thousand people received vaccinations.
