The first children's surfing school in Russia will open in Kamchatka

Children between the ages of 9 and 16 will be able to study there.
The first state children's surfing school in Russia, Snowave Surf School, will open in Kamchatka, 76 children aged 9 to 16 will enroll there, the press service of the regional government reported on Monday.
"The opening of the state budget surfing sports school is an unprecedented case in Russia. An elite, expensive sport and, of course, very difficult from the point of view of the organization of the training process, has received state support in such a remote region. This is a great achievement for the Kamchatka Territory, the local community and children who will be able to find their realization in this business," said the founder of the first surfing school in Russia, Snowave KamchatkaAnton Morozov, quoted by the press service.
Morozov took the initiative to open a children's school in 2021, it was supported by the head of the region Vladimir Solodov, he instructed the relevant departments to work out the possibility of its creation. The opening ceremony of the children's surfing school will be held on June 11 at the Halaktyrsky beach in the Snowave Kamchatka camp. It will be attended by an invited guest - one of the first surfers in Russia, a poet and writer, author of books about surfingNikita Zamekhovsky-Megalocardi.
"There are no ready-made solutions and examples in Russia just to take some experience and use it. Surfing is a new sports discipline, so there are still few methods, programs and high-quality developments. Now we are in touch with our friends from Australia, where surfing is a national sport and there is a large practical teaching base. Combining successful foreign practices, our experience in Russian sports will allow us to build an effective training process for children," said Morozov, whose words are quoted in the message.
In the classical disciplines, surfing on a short and long board in Russia is represented in several regions - in Primorye, Sakhalin, St. Petersburg, Kuban, Kaliningrad Region and the Republic of Crimea. The development of athletes in the Kamchatka Territory has great potential. Along with other regions where surfers ride river waves, reservoir waves or seas, Kamchatka is washed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean, which provides regular waves and stable conditions for training all year round. Since 2016, surfing has been officially recognized as an Olympic sport, the first competitions were held in 2020 at the Tokyo Olympics.
