For the first time, the Moscow City Tourism Committee and the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee held a joint business event in Tehran with the participation of representatives of the Iranian tourism industry.

The delegations of the two capitals spoke about the current tourist products of Moscow and St. Petersburg and held a series of business negotiations.

The capital's specialists and representatives of travel companies held more than 450 meetings with their Iranian colleagues. The event aroused great interest in the industry. In total, 19 Moscow and 98 Iranian companies took part in it, including hotels, airlines, leading tour operators and agents. Holding such events allows you to generate interest in Moscow as a tourist destination, as well as help industry representatives find potential partners to enter a new market.

"The event was attended by representatives of 117 companies from the two countries, which indicates mutual interest and willingness to cooperate. Tourists from Iran occupy a significant place in the structure of the foreign tourist flow to Moscow. We see an increase in inbound tourism from Iran. We expect that in 2023 the tourist flow will grow. First of all, this will be facilitated by the agreement on visa-free group tours between our countries, the start of work on which we expect already this tourist season. Moscow infrastructure, tour operators, hotels and other participants of the tourist market are ready for this," said Evgeny Kozlov, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Mayor and Government of Moscow, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism of the City of Moscow.

Together with Moscow, the delegations of St. Petersburg and Kazan presented the tourist attractiveness of their cities.

"Iran has a significant tourist potential, the interest of the citizens of this country in Russia in general and in St. Petersburg in particular has already grown markedly. According to statistics, about 8 thousand tourists from Iran visited the Northern Capital in 2022. At the same time, most of them visited both St. Petersburg and Moscow in one trip. The project “Two cities — a million impressions” allows us to effectively combine the tourist offers of our megacities. In order to attract new travelers to visit the two capitals and show them the hospitable St. Petersburg, we, together with representatives of the travel industry, are implementing an active marketing campaign in the countries of the Greater Middle East. We conduct field presentations aimed at direct communication of representatives of the tourism industry, participate in international exhibitions, involve the media in cooperation, invite tour operators to get acquainted with our city as part of infotours," said Sergey Korneev, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee.

Moscow also took part in the 16th International Exhibition of travel, tourism and hotel management TITE, which was held in Tehran. Together with the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg, Mosturism presented to the Iranian audience a joint interregional project "Two cities - a million impressions", which unites more than 40 tourist offers of the two capitals.
