Mass wedding ceremony held in Georgia for the third time

More than 500 couples consecrated their marriage.

On May 16, a mass wedding took place in Georgia. On this day, more than 500 couples who had previously created families underwent a ceremony prescribed by the Orthodox faith. This is reported by the Sputnik agency.

Mass weddings have already become traditional in Georgia. This year it is held for the third time. Its participants received the blessing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II. 

The organizer of the event is the Georgian Chokhono-bearers Society, which is engaged in the preservation of the cultural and religious traditions of the Georgian people. As a sign of adherence to national values, members of the society put on chokha on solemn occasions - the traditional outerwear of Georgians, a kind of cloak with wide folding sleeves.
