Malaysia will ease social restrictions in a number of regions for vaccinated citizens.

Malaysian authorities will ease social restrictions for fully vaccinated citizens in seven regions of the kingdom from August 20. This was reported on Thursday by the BERNAMA agency, citing the interim Prime Minister of Malaysia Muhyiddin Yassin.

Easing restrictions will occur in five states (Kedah, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Johor) and two federal territories (Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya). Fully vaccinated citizens will be allowed to visit cafes and engage in non-contact sports.

“Food establishments should check digital vaccination certificates from visitors,” said Mukhiddin Yassin.

Malaysia has a federal structure: it consists of 13 states and three federal territories - the capital Kuala Lumpur, the administrative center of Putrajaya and the island of Labuan off the coast of Sabah.
