Malaysia approves Chinese drug Convidecia for revaccination

Residents who received two doses of the drug Cansino or Sinovac will be able to apply for a booster dose of Convidecia in three months, the Ministry of Health noted.


The Malaysian Ministry of Health approved the use of the Chinese company Cansino's drug for revaccination against coronavirus. Malaysiakini news portal reported on Tuesday.

"Residents who received two doses of Cansino or Sinovac will be able to apply for a booster dose of Convidecia in three months," (manufacturer Cansino), the agency said in a statement. At the same time, as indicated by the Ministry of Health, "experts recommend combining different types of vaccines to achieve a higher degree of protection against coronavirus."

Previously, the authorities approved drugs from Sinovac, AstraZeneca and Pfizer for use in the immunization program. So far, almost 80% of Malaysians have received two doses of the vaccine, and 47.5% have received the third dose.
