Large consignment of Chinese vaccine arrives in the Philippines

China has supplied the Philippines with 1 million doses of Sinovac's coronavirus vaccine.

The batch of the drug was delivered to Manila by Philippine Airlines and handed over to the representative of the national coronavirus task force in the country Carlito Galvez. According to him, the republic expects to receive 5 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine in June.

The first delivery of the Sinovac vaccine to the Philippines took place on February 28. This allowed the country's leadership to begin the mass immunization process as early as March 1.

In total, the island nation has so far imported more than 10 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, most of which were supplied by Sinovac. In addition to the Chinese drug, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Russian Sputnik V vaccines are being vaccinated in the Philippines.

To date, about 6 million vaccinations have been made in the Philippines. Most of those vaccinated are medical staff and the elderly population. The country's leadership intends to vaccinate 70 million people by the end of this year (the country's total population is about 110 million). To date, the number of cases of coronavirus infection in the country has reached 1.2 million, 22 thousand people have died as a result of the disease caused by the virus.
