Kyrgyzstan to receive COVID-19 tests from Russia

Russia will provide Kyrgyzstan with an additional volume of test systems for detecting coronavirus.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova held a meeting with the Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, during which the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the fight against infectious diseases, including coronavirus. This was reported on Wednesday on the website of the oversight agency.

Anna Popova noted that Rospotrebnadzor, with the support of the government of the Russian Federation, will continue to assist Kyrgyzstan in building up its capacity to respond to infections,” notes in the message. “In connection with the emergence of new mutations of the coronavirus in the world, Rospotrebnadzor will not only provide Kyrgyzstan with an additional volume of highly effective Russian test systems, but will also assist in conducting sequencing of samples detected in Kyrgyzstan on the basis of scientific organizations of Rospotrebnadzor.”

During the meeting The Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan expressed gratitude to the Russian side for the supply of more than 200 thousand tests, as well as the donation of a mobile laboratory and the dispatch of Russian epidemiologists, virologists and laboratory specialists to work in this country.

“In addition, an agreement was reached on joint conduct of immunological studies on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic using Russian methods and tests. Rospotrebnadzor will continue to provide assistance to the Kyrgyz side for an effective and timely response to infectious threats within a single epidemiological space," the department added.
