The "Sea Cup" started in Baku

The opening of the Sea Cup competition was held in Baku as part of the Army International Games.


The grand opening of the Sea Cup competition within the framework of the Army International Games (ArMI-2022) took place on Monday in the capital of Azerbaijan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.


"The speakers at the opening ceremony noted that the Army International Games serve to strengthen military cooperation, friendship between military personnel, and increase their professionalism," the message reads. As the commander of the Naval Forces (Navy) of Azerbaijan, Rear Admiral Subhan Bekirov, stressed, the Sea Cup competition "will give an impetus to the development of peace and good-neighborly relations in the Caspian Sea."


The "Sea Cup" competition, which Baku is hosting for the fifth time, involves sailors and ships of the Navies of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Of Russia. The Azerbaijani Navy is represented by the G-124 and G-122 patrol ships, the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy — the Makhachkala and Astrakhan vessels, the Iranian Navy — the Peikan and Jovshan missile boats, the Kazakh Navy — the Oral and Saryarka ships. The competitions will be held in three stages — the execution of artillery firing, the struggle for the survivability of the ship and the preparation for rescue, naval training.


The Army International Games are held from August 13 to 27 on the territory of 12 states. A total of 36 contests are planned to be held. The Sea Cup competition will last until August 25.
