From February 20 to 24, the UAE hosted the UAE SWAT Challenge-2023 Special Purpose units competition.

This is an unofficial world championship among the special forces of law enforcement agencies. This year 57 teams from 28 countries took part in it. The Russian Federation was represented by 3 teams: two from Rosgvardiya – the teams of the SOBR and the Vityaz Special Purpose Center, as well as the Akhmat of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic.

In the overall standings, the Akhmat team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic reached the highest step of the podium, the Rosgvardiya SOBR team became the bronze medalist of the competition, losing only 13 points to the Dubai police, the Vityaz CSN took 17th place, entering the top twenty of the best special forces in the world.

At the final stage, special forces personnel passed a sports obstacle course, which consists of 19 shells. The commandos had three attempts to overcome each of them: even if one person could not cope, the team did not receive a single point for the stage. Only half of the teams managed to master this exercise. The Russian Guards were fifth and sixth, showing a time of about five minutes. The team "Akhmat" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the second.

As the assistant director of the Rosgvardiya, Lieutenant General Yuri Kotov, noted, Russia was represented at the competitions exclusively by combat officers who risk their lives daily while performing service and combat tasks.

For five days, in the fierce competition of the competition, special forces officers performed various tactical tasks, during which they overcame obstacles, including a cable stretched between two armored vehicles, hit targets from various weapons: sniper rifles, pistols and submachine guns. Hostages were also released, the wounded were evacuated.
