Kazakhstan will launch a plant for the production of its own vaccine in autumn

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Yeraly Tugzhanov announced his intention to produce 600,000 doses of QazVac per month.

The authorities of Kazakhstan plan to launch a new biopharmaceutical plant in the village of Gvardeisky, Zhambyl region, in September, where the production of a local coronavirus vaccine QazVac will be launched. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Yeraly Tugzhanov at an expanded government meeting on Saturday.

“Commissioning of the biopharmaceutical plant is at the final stage. On July 19 of this year, a trial run of the plant was successfully carried out. A GMP certificate (international quality standards, Good Manufacturing Practice - TASS note) and a license to carry out pharmaceutical activities were issued. Starting from September of this year, the industrial production of the QazVac vaccine with a monthly volume of 600 thousand doses will be launched at the plant,” said Eraly Tugzhanov.

Scientists and specialists from research institutes worked on the creation of the inactivated QazVac vaccine problems of biological safety of Kazakhstan. The first batches of the vaccine were produced on the basis of this research institute and delivered to the regions.

On February 1, Kazakhstan began to vaccinate the population against coronavirus with Sputnik V, produced in Russia. At the end of February, shipments to the regions of the country of the Russian vaccine, produced on the basis of the Karaganda pharmaceutical complex, began. On April 26, vaccination with a local drug against coronavirus QazVac began in the republic. At the end of April, the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund purchased 1 million doses of the Hayat-Vax & nbsp; Chinese company Sinopharm. In addition, in early June, the first batch of CoronaVac vaccine manufactured by the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech in the amount of 500,000 doses arrived in the republic.

As of July 10, 4,142,859 people were vaccinated with the first component of the vaccine in Kazakhstan, 2,389,756 have fully completed the vaccination process. The population of the republic is about 18.9 million people.
