Kazakhstan intends to start revaccinating citizens against COVID-19 in November 2021.

The authorities of Kazakhstan plan to start revaccinating the population against coronavirus at the end of November this year. This was announced on Wednesday by the Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Aleksey Tsoi.

“The start of revaccination is scheduled from the third decade of November 2021. Contingent for revaccination: risk groups (health workers, teachers, staff and contingent of medical, social and closed institutions, employees of law enforcement agencies); persons over 60; persons who have independently passed the study and have a negative test result for antibodies against coronavirus infection,” wrote Alexey Tsoi on his Facebook page. According to him, one dose of the vaccine will be used for revaccination.

The Ministry of Health recommends the introduction of an additional dose of the vaccine 6-9 months after the completion of the full course of vaccination against coronavirus infection. At the same time, persons vaccinated with the Sputnik V vector vaccine are recommended to undergo revaccination after 9 months with inactivated Sinopharm, CoronaVac, Hayat-Vax, QazVac or Pfizer mRNA vaccines. Persons vaccinated with inactivated vaccines are advised to undergo revaccination after 6 months with a vector or mRNA vaccine.

The approaches proposed by the Ministry of Health for revaccination of citizens will be considered by the interdepartmental commission on preventing the spread of coronavirus under the government of Kazakhstan, which should make a final decision.
