All restrictions on crossing the state border of Kazakhstan by air have also been lifted.

Since April 11, the authorities of Kazakhstan have lifted the restrictions imposed due to the pandemic on crossing the border at land checkpoints with Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The decision was made by the interdepartmental commission to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in connection with the stabilization of the epidemic situation in the country. Restrictions are being lifted for Kazakhstanis, foreigners and stateless persons on crossing the state border of Kazakhstan with these three countries.

In addition, all restrictions on crossing the state border of Kazakhstan by air have been lifted. At the same time, those arriving in Kazakhstan from other countries, including Russians, must provide a certificate with a negative test result for COVID-19 by PCR in Kazakh or Russian or English, valid for no more than 72 hours. An exception is made for children under five years of age and for those who received a coronavirus vaccine in Kazakhstan. The certificate may also not be provided by those who have a vaccination passport of one of the countries whose certificates are recognized by the Kazakh side. At the moment, Russia and Kazakhstan are working on the mutual recognition of vaccination passports.

In March 2020, Kazakhstan introduced border restrictions due to the spread of coronavirus infection. The authorities of Kazakhstan have resumed flights with Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan since September 2020.

Entry into Kazakhstan through land checkpoints was previously allowed only for certain categories of foreign citizens, including Russians. Among them are diplomats accredited in the republic, members of foreign delegations and employees of international organizations. Foreigners, without presenting additional grounds, could enter the country only by flights from those states with which Kazakhstan resumed regular passenger flights. Russia also belonged to them.

Since March 30, Russia has canceled the restrictions imposed during the pandemic on crossing land borders with Kazakhstan. Restrictions have been lifted on the entry of citizens of Kazakhstan into Russia and on the exit of citizens of the Russian Federation to Kazakhstan through the land section of the Russian-Kazakh border. The authorities of the Russian Federation introduced restrictions at the end of March 2020 due to the spread of coronavirus infection.
