Japan will provide $8 million in aid to Mongolia to fight the coronavirus.

The Japanese authorities will provide Mongolia with assistance in the amount of $8 million to fight the coronavirus. The MONTSAME agency reported this on Monday.

According to its information, the Japan International Cooperation Agency will also provide the Mongolian authorities with equipment for transporting covid vaccines.

On July 19, the Mongolian government and the Japanese agency signed an agreement to provide support for Ulaanbaatar by the Japanese side in the fight against the pandemic. A few days later, during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, the head of the Mongolian government Luvsannamsrein Oyuun-Erdene expressed gratitude to Tokyo for the support provided in countering the coronavirus.

According to official statistics, more than 1,000 new cases of covid infection have been detected in Mongolia over the past 24 hours. About a quarter of them were recorded in Ulaanbaatar. As a result, over the entire period of the pandemic, the number of infected people in the country exceeded 166 thousand people, of which 823 died.
