Israelis not allowed to wear masks indoors

The obligatory wearing of protective masks in the premises, introduced earlier to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Israel, is canceled from the evening of April 23. This was announced on Wednesday by the prime minister's office.


“In the decrease in the incidence of coronavirus, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Minister of Health Nitzan Horowitz made a decision to remove the mandatory wearing of masks in enclosed spaces. The decision will enter into force on April 23, 2022 at  20:00 (coincides with   Moscow    “The decision made does not apply to places with a high potential for infection (hospitals, nursing homes, maternity hospitals, flights, and people on their way to the place of quarantine),” added the office.


Mandatory wearing of face masks on the streets of Israel was lifted in mid-April 2021, and in indoors from mid-June last year. However, following the emergence of the delta strain of coronavirus in the country on June 25, 2021, it was decided to renew the requirement to wear protective masks in enclosed spaces.
