Iran unveils models of two new satellites

Iran is among the nine countries in the world producing satellites.


Iranian experts presented models of two new satellites, Nahid 2 and Tolo 3. This was reported by the Fars news agency on Tuesday.

According to him, "Nahid 2" is a telecommunications satellite, the service life of which will be two years. It is assumed that it will be put into orbit at an altitude of 500 km from the Earth's surface. Another satellite, Tolo 3, will be the largest and heaviest probe built on the territory of the Islamic Republic. Its mass will be at least 100 kg.

In addition, experts demonstrated the first batch of images from space provided by the Iranian satellite "Khayyam", which was launched on August 9, 2022 from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The Agency noted that these photographs will soon be available to cartographers of the Islamic Republic.

Iran started its space program in 2004. It is among the nine countries in the world that produce satellites, along with Russia and the United States. Iran is one of the 24 founding countries of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, established in 1959.

In 2017, the Imam Khomeini Space Center was opened in Iran to solve the problems of the national aerospace industry. The Center is capable of preparing, launching, tracking and controlling the flight of spacecraft in low Earth orbit.
