Iran will start issuing tourist visas at the end of October, interrupted due to the pandemic.

The Iranian authorities plan to resume issuing tourist visas at the end of October, interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic. This was stated by the Minister of Tourism, Cultural Heritage and Crafts Seyed Ezatollah Zargami.

“The issuance of tourist visas for foreign travelers entering by land or air transport will be resumed starting from the month of Aban Iranian calendar, corresponds to the period from October 23 to November 21 - TASS note)," the Etemad newspaper quoted him as saying on Tuesday.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Cultural Heritage and Crafts Ali Asghar Shalbafiyan noted that the decision was approved by the national headquarters of the republic to combat the spread of coronavirus. “Entry of tourists through the Iranian border  will be possible upon presentation of a certificate of vaccination, a negative [result] of the PCR test, as well as subject to the medical protocols approved by the Ministry of Health,” Tasnim quoted him as saying.

Iranian authorities stopped issuing tourist visas for foreign citizens at the beginning spring 2020. The current decision comes amid reports of accelerating vaccination rates in the country. To date, more than 52.7 million people have been vaccinated in Iran, of which about 36.9 million received one dose of the drug, and more than 15.8 million received two doses.
