Representatives of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) and the Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East presented an interactive atlas, which contains information about the Nenets, Evenks, Sami and other peoples. Now the map contains information about 10 nations, it is planned to tell about 40 in total, a TASS correspondent reports from the site of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF).

"From a technical point of view, the atlas is divided into two blocks, these are the languages of the people, as well as a cartographic service. <...> The atlas is still in the works, but there are already 10 nations there. The map shows at the moment the territory of settlement of these peoples with the possibility of moving to other blocks to study information," Ilya Shponarsky, an analyst at the RSUH Atlas development project office, said at the presentation, specifying that next year work on the project will continue, data on 40 indigenous peoples will be collected.

Now the atlas tells about the culture, language, problems, traditions, outstanding representatives of the Sami, Veps, Nenets, Khanty, Nganasans, Dolgans, Evenks, Shors, Udege and Chukchi. Photos, including archival ones, are attached to each section. Anyone can get acquainted with the atlas on the website atlaskmns.ru "We try to emphasize the uniqueness of each nation and make the presentation of information in a popular scientific way and interesting to all visitors of the site: whether they are researchers or ordinary users who wandered there, students or students," Ilya Shponarsky added.

Representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East participated in the project, they helped in data collection. "The fact that we are implementing such modern projects, in a modern format, makes us believe that we will not lose our language, tradition, or culture. I hope that through the joint efforts of the Federal Center (Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs (FADN) - approx. TASS), regional authorities, associations (Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East - approx. TASS), which is still gaining momentum, we will overcome all the problems," said the head of the FADN Igor Barinov.
