The Indonesian authorities intend to open tourist corridors with several countries, including Russia, the UK, Singapore and France. The Jakarta Post reported Wednesday, citing Minister of Tourism and Creative EconomySandiaga Uno.

“The government expects that as the situation around the coronavirus pandemic improves, such travel arrangements will will be opened as soon as possible,” the head of the department said. He clarified that Indonesia “plans to open tourist corridors with seven states, including Russia, Belgium, Great Britain, Vietnam, the Netherlands, Singapore and France.”

Such mechanisms, according to the head of the department, “should guarantee that all foreign tourists do not have coronavirus and are ready to comply with all requirements of local authorities.” At the same time, the minister did not specify what exactly will be the procedure for the entry of citizens of other countries.

In December last year, Jakarta imposed a complete ban on the arrival of foreigners in the country. Indonesia is the leader in Southeast Asia in terms of the number of people infected with coronavirus - more than 1.8 million people.
